After an illness of only a few days, Mrs. J. K. P. Chapman of the Chappel community died at an early hour Friday morning, June 3. She was born in Giles county Tennessee, April 14, 1847, and was thus 74 years, one month and 19 days old. The family came to Texas and settled in San Saba county some 20 years ago, and have lived for a number of years on the farm near Chappel. She was one of the most considerate of women, always hospitable and generous. She was converted in early life and joined the Baptist church of which communion she remained a true and loyal member. The body was buried in the cemetery at High Valley in the presence of a large concourse of neighbors and friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. A. Binford, pastor of the Baptist church at San Saba. The immediate family surviving are the husband and six children. The latter are, R.E. Chapman of Kingman, Ariz., Mrs H. F. Moore of Bend this county, J.A. Chapman of Red Lake, New Mexico, Mrs, W. V. Dean of this city, O.W. Chapman of Bronte, Texas, and Mrs. Joe Hollis of Huntington Beach, California. Besides these there are 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren to mourn the death of grandmother.
