Mrs. F. H. Schlichting, Well Known Sheboygan Falls Woman, Summoned On Monday Evening

Karen Andrea White Schlichting, wife of County Judge Ferdinand H. Schlichting, died Monday night at 6 o'clock in St. Nicholas hospital.

The news of her death came as a severe shock to the members of her family and to her many friends in Sheboygan Falls, here in the city, and in other cities throughout the state and elsewhere, for Mrs. Schlichting's kindly personality, her wide interests and her musical ability had won for her a host of friends who today are finding it very difficult to realize that she has gone.

She was born in Lily, South Dakota, October 22, 1904, and was the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. A. O. White of Calumet, Michigan.

Lived In Oregon

Mrs. Schlichting moved with her family to Silverton, Oregon, in 1905, and remained there until 1917 when they came to Wisconsin where they resided in Manitowoc county. She attended the grade schools of Silverton and was a graduate of Gale college, Galesville, Wis., Central Wisconsin college at Scandinavia, and the Milwaukee State Teachers' college.

She taught in the Sheboygan Falls high school from 1925 to 1928 and was married to County Judge Schlichting July 11, 1928, at Valders, where her father performed the ceremony. She and the judge then returned to Sheboygan Falls, where they have lived ever since.

Mrs. Schlichting was a very active woman and loved by all at Sheboygan Falls. She was a member of St. peter's Episcopal church, a member of the church's women's auxiliary, and taught one of the church's Sunday school classes. She also was a member of the Sheboygan Falls Woman's club and was a member of the Garden club.

Had Marked Musical Ability

She had marked musical ability and was called upon to sing at the church and on many occasions in the community, and she played exceptionally well as both pianist and violinist.

Surviving Mrs. Schlichting are her husband; one daughter, Janet; two sons, Henry and Philip; her father and mother; two sisters, Mrs. Stanley Halvorsen of Oshkosh, and Mrs. Clarence Heidl of St. Paul, Minnesota; and three brothers, Herman White of Calumet, Mich., and Alan and Adolph White of Minneapolis, Minn. One twin daughter, Phyllis Ann, died at birth.

Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Peter's Episcopal church in Sheboygan Falls. The Rt. Rev. Harwood Sturtevant, bishop of Fond du Lac, the Rev. Herbert S. Stanton of Sheboygan Falls, and the Rev. E. J. Fitzpatrick of Plymouth will have charge of the services, and burial will be in the Sheboygan Falls cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Ahrens funeral home in Sheboygan Falls from 7 o'clock tonight until 9 o'clock Thursday morning when it will be taken to the church.

Judge Schlichting's many friends here and throughout the state join in expressing their sincere sympathy in his sorrow.
