Bobby Eugene Dixon Sr. passed on Thursday April 2, 2015. Services to be held at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington. Viewing and visitation Wednesday 4/8 from 6-8pm. Funeral Thursday 4/9 at 2pm. Memorial to be held Saturday 4/11 from 2-11pm at McCown Valley Community Center in Whitney. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Bobby Dixon Memorial Scholarship Fund. Born March 7, 1936 in Briggs, Texas to Elijah Arnold Dixon and Beatrice Etta Slough. Youngest of 7 children. 3 girls and 4 boys. Moved from Briggs, to Killeen, to Waco by 1947. Married Gailya Wanice Devenport 12/31/1957 and together they raised a beautiful and loving family. Survived by his son – Randall C Gideon and wife Beth of Fort Worth, daughter - Debbie Witherspoon and husband Kim of Fort Worth, daughter - Gloria (Missy) Cabibi and husband Glen Claytor of Whitney, Brother – Joe Dixon and wife Nancy of Whitney, Sisters-In-law – Dortha Devenport, Judy Devenport, Grace Dixon, 12 Grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and #11 due any time. Preceded in death by his wife Gailya, One Son – Bobby E Dixon Jr, Grandson- Zachary C Gideon, Parents Elijah and Beatrice Dixon, Siblings- Lucille Burrow, Mildred Scott, Dick Dixon, Pete Dixon, Odessa Lee Dixon and niece Callie Bea Joined the USMC reserves in 1956 Started work for the Railroad at a very young age, worked at General Tire in Waco, General Motors in Arlington and Bell Helicopter as a supervisor until he retired in 1982. After his retirement from Bell Helicopter he went to work for the City of Arlington as the Traffic Safety Supervisor until his final retirement in 1997. Lived in Waco, Arlington and Fort Worth until 1994 when he and Gail bought their retirement home on Lake Whitney. His faith was important to him, as was his family. He lived his life in a manner that exemplified Christ to all that met him. He was a man of high integrity and honor. Loved unconditionally and accepted without judgement. Loved traveling with his family and took many vacations and created lots of memories. He loved his Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys and never missed a game. But his favorite thing to do in Whitney was to watch his grandson perform. Wether it be on the sports field or performing his music he was always there to support him and he took great pride in this.You could always find him talking and making friends where ever he went. Local diner, bench on a street or even from his hospital bed. He was known for his generosity and was greatly loved by many and will leave a huge void in lots of lives that will be filled with wonderful memories and legacy. Just by knowing him meant respecting him and he will be greatly missed by family and friends.
