Joseph A. Casper, 87, of Avoca, died Wednesday at the Allied Skilled Nursing Facility, Scranton. Born in Dupont on Oct. 18, 1927, son of the late John and Frances (Minuets) Casper, Joe was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish (St. Mary's Church), Avoca. He attended Dupont schools and was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1952-1954. He was employed for many years by Capitol Records, Scranton, and Fitchburg Coated Products, Moosic, and retired from Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. He was past commander of VFW Post 4909 of Dupont and also past commander of Dupont American Legion Post 657. Joe was a loving husband, father, brother and friend, and he will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Bartush, Nell Jones, Regina O'Hara, Theresa Kuchinski, Frances Krawiec, Evelyn Pollard and Mary Waskiewicz; and his brothers, Henry, Daniel, John and Robert. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 at Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Hawthorne Street, Avoca. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca. Members of VFW Post 4904 will provide military honors. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
