SMALLEY, Daniel E., age 87 of Lapeer (formerly of Flint) passed away March 31, 2015. Born August 13, 1927 in Flint to David and Rosa Smalley, nee. Preiczer. Daniel loyally served his country in the United States Navy during the end of WWII. He retired from Buick after 34 years of working as a Repair Machinist.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Smalley, nee. Days. Loving father of 10 children, Melinda (James) Brock, James (Cynthia) Smalley, Martha (Bill) Egyed, John (Kim) Smalley, Jacob Smalley, Jerome (Marlene) Smalley, Jarett (Son) Smalley, Luke Smalley, Justin (Kellee) Smalley and Linus Smalley; 26 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Timothy; brother Donald; twin brother Richard; sisters Alice and Esther.
Daniel's family would like to express a heartfelt "thank you" to the staff at Suncrest for their compassion and dedication towards Daniel's care.
Friends may visit on Friday, April 3rd from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday from 1-8 p.m. (7:00 p.m. Rosary Service) at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors Capstick Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Doug Terrien officiating. Following Mass a burial with military honors will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or VFW National Home For Children are greatly appreciated.
