Mildred Fern Humeston was born in Rockford, Illinois 10 July 1896 to Susie Anna Shields and Charles Dee Humeston. She was their only child and she was cherished by her parents. As a family they fished and swam in lakes in many places in Wisconsin while camping in cabins with family friends. There are many family photos to enjoy of their times together.
Mildred was a worthy matron of The Eastern Star Rockford Chapter. She enjoyed years of volunteering and gardening and baking. She shared her love of all those things with her daughter Barbara.
Mildred married Carl Thorvald Carlson 19 November 1927. 7 December 1929 they had their first child Margaret Elizabeth Carlson, who sadly only lived for 4 hours. Their next child Barbara Ann Carlson was born 1 April 1931 and was a healthy, happy baby. They had Lawrence Dee Carlson 19 October 1934.
