Carl Thorvald Carlson, 93, of 920 Glendale Ave., died at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 1986 in Swedish American Hospital after a short illness. Carl was born September 16, 1892 in Larvik, Norway. He was the first born child of Olaf Karlson and Anna Jacobsdatter Karlson. Carl lived 60 of his 93 years in Rockford, Illinois. He lived in Iowa, North Dakota, and Wyoming prior to living in Rockford. November 19, 1927 in Rockford he married his sweetheart Mildred Fern Humeston. He was employed as an electrician by Barber Colman Company for 35 years, retiring in 1958. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the United States Army in Verdun, France. He was a member of Second Congregational Church and Star in the East Masonic Lodge No. 166 and Freeport Consistory.
Survivors include his wife Mildred;
his daughter, Barbara Carlson Tunks of Peoria;
his son, Larry Carlson of Villa Rica, Georgia;
six grandchildren, Dawn, Rose, Linda, Daron, Karen, and Laura;
three great grandchildren, Jessica, Tyshell, and Kevin;
a brother, Jacob E. Carlson of Minot, North Dakota;
a sister, Vesta L. Edmonds, of Powell, Wyoming;
several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, newborn daughter Margaret (1929), brother Otto Carlson (1965), and son-in-law Richard Tunks (1983).

Services were at 1p.m. Saturday, April 5 at Fred C. Olson Mortuary, Ltd. 1001 Second Avenue Rockford, Illinois, with the Reverend R. Haines Moffat, associate pastor of Second Congregational Church officiating. Burial was in Willwood Burial Park. Friends called at the mortuary from noon to 1p.m. Saturday.
