Miriam Annette Gauldin Garner was the daughter of Robert Herbert Gauldin (1886-1960) and Bernice Julia Galbraith Gauldin (1889-1976). Born in Honey Grove, Texas, she had four siblings:
Mary Thomas Gauldin McAmis (1909-1998)
Marjorie LaTrelle Gauldin (1915-1978)
Herbert Eugene Gauldin (1917-1981)
Robert Samuel Gauldin (1928-1957).


Miriam loved horses and ranching. She was an avid barrel racer in her youth and later raised and showed registered quarter horses. She was a member of a mounted square dance group and later served for many years as the Director of the Honey Grove Mounted Drill Team. She served as President of the Honey Grove Round-up Club, and was given a special award of appreciation by the Future Farmers of America for her years of work with youth.


Having a deep abiding love for the land, she spent most of her life involved with ranching in Fannin and Palo Pinto Counties, Texas. She was a fervent Christian and a spirited woman.


Miriam married James Murrell Parrish (1921-1998) in Alexandria, Louisiana, January 26, 1944. They divorced in 1952. They had one child, a daughter.


February 27, 1954, Miriam married Aubrey Lee Garner (1919-1998) in Indianola, Mississippi.
