Marin is the son of Andre Hurtubise and Renee Hermange, and the brother of Andrew Hurtubise. He left from La Flèche France on about 15 April 1653 on the ship Saint-Nicolas and arrived in Montreal on 16 November 1653*. He married Etiennette Alton on 7 January 1660, in Notre-Dame-de-Montréal. They are the parents of the following (verified with PRDH)
1) Pierre (1660-1705) md Marie-Genevieve Courroux dit Lacoste
2) Etiennette-Antoinette (1662-1717) md Jean-Baptiste Guenet
3) Jean (1665- )
4) Louis (1667-1703) md Jeanne Gateau
5) Marie (1670-1703) md Paul Decary
6) Marin (1672- )

*Marin and his brother Andre were part of La Grande Recrue of 1653. The town of Montreal had not grown even ten years after it was established, maintaining only about 50 residents. Many of the skilled workers left Montreal after their contracts expired, there was constant threat from the Iroquois, etc. Paul Chomedey de Maisonneuve (founder of Fort Ville-Marie which became modern day Montreal) went to France and recruited skilled tradesmen to come to Montreal. The men and women of La Grande Recrue helped to secure and bring new life into Montreal. They are credited with saving Montreal, enabling it to become the city that it is today.
