Gloria F. Douglas, age 91, of the Sunset Home, formerly of 1515 N. 10th, Quincy, died Friday (April 3, 2015) at 7:25 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
Gloria Douglas | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home - Quincy, ILShe was born July 2, 1923 in Quincy the daughter of Fred H. and Florine Elizabeth Spindler Niekamp.
She was a 1941 graduate of Quincy High School and was a graduate of Blessing School of Nursing in 1944 with her R.N. degree. She worked as a registered nurse for 25 years. Mrs. Douglas was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and a member of the Nursing Association. She was a dedicated Den Mother for Cub Scouts of St. James School for many years.
Survivors include 3 children, M. Douglas of Quincy, D. Douglas of Florida, and J. Carlstrom of Quincy,
8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren with another on the way; her brother, F. Niekamp of Tinley Park, IL and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard Niekamp.
Services: Wednesday (April 8, 2015) at 11 a.m. in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Martin Eden officiating.
Burial: will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation: Wednesday (April 8, 2015) from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church
Memorials: Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
