Harold J. "Tex" Hoersten, 97, of Van Wert passed away at 1:45 PM on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.

Born on January 06,1923 in Ottoville, the son of the late Louis Hoersten and Catherine (Fishbach) Hoersten.

Harold retired from Fruehauf Trailer after many years driving truck.

Harold was a United States Army Veteran serving in Korea. He was a member of the Rockford American Legion and St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert.

Harold enjoyed spending as much times as he could out west. He was also an avid bowler and golfer and working in his yard.

Surviving are a brother, John Hoersten of Rockford and a sister, Jeanette Black of Payne. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Eddie Hoersten, Rita Adams, Ike Hoersten, Richard "Bud" Hoersten, Roger Hoersten, Mary Bollinger, and Betty Daeger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 28, 2020 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Stanley Szybka, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ottoville.

The family will receive from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary service starting at 7:00 PM.
