Army Cpl. Jeremy M. Loveless, 25, of Estacada, Ore.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; killed May 29 when his Stryker came under enemy small-arms fire during combat operations in Mosul, Iraq. He was born June 27, 1980, in Albany to Connie and Michael Loveless. He was raised and educated in Gresham, attending Hollydale Elementary School, Dexter McCarty Middle School and graduating from Gresham High School in 1998. Army Cpl Loveless was shot by a sniper during a mission as a medic with the 4th Platoon, A Company, Task Force 2-1. He was maintaining security on a Stryker vehicle.
A funeral was held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 9, at Good Shepherd Community Church, 28986 S.E. Haley Road, Boring. He received firefighter honors at the funeral and military honors at the graveside service in Estacada.
