He was a member of the Leslie First Baptist Church. He had served in the National Guard.
He was born on October 19, 1942 at Campbell, Arkansas to Hershel and Nellie Sutterfield George.
Darrel worked for Capitol Mercury Shirt Company for 37 years. He worked in engineering and as plant manager for several of the other plants until his retirement in 1998. After his retirement he was a farmer and avid collector and restorer of antique tractors. He earned the nick name of "Tractor Joe" to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill and LeRoy, sisters Luna Jo Lense and Lillie Eads.
Visitation will be Monday 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Services are Tuesday 2 PM at Roller Coffman Chapel with burial in Campbell Cemetery. Officiating are Phillip Clark and Wylie Hardin.
