Karen was born on June 29, 1949 in Bluffton to Clyde F. & Areta M. (Ogle) Oswalt. She graduated from Southern Wells School with the class of 1967. She enjoyed a career in Banking and worked at Old First National Bank in Bluffton and retired from Ossian State Bank. In her free time Karen enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises.
Karen is survived by her son Ryan (wife Kami) Shaw of Carmel and two twin granddaughters, Olivia & Aliya Shaw. Along with a sister Sharon K. (husband Meredith A.) Oswalt-Curtis of Greenfield, a niece Margo (husband Robert) Curtis-Sutton, and two great-nephews John & Davinson Sutton all of Indianapolis.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her fiancé’ Paul E. Penrod.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Karen at 3:00 p.m. on Friday (April 10, 2015) at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton. Calling Hours will take place from 12 Noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Karen’s memory to the American Diabetes Association or to the National Fibromyalgia Association.
