Our dad, Harry Earl Hess, was born on December 20, 1925 in Baker Oregon, and passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2015. He had a twin brother, Jake Beryl, who was killed in an accident Easter Sunday 1932. His parents were Birdie Victoria Wynn and Earl Hess. Dad had an older sister, Ethel Marie, and three younger brothers, Alfred Lewis, Dennis Lynn, and Dale Leon.

Our dad grew up on a farm and knew the meaning of hard work. He joined the Navy prior to high school graduation. He returned to school and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1947 after serving for a short time in the Navy.

On August 3, 1947 he married Betty Jean Toombs and together they had five children, Vicki Lee (Jerry) Winterbottom, Harry Earl "Bucky" (Lauralee), Sue Ann (Dale) Bowman, Kelly Rae (Ronn) Wartenbe, and Barbara Jean (Larry) Jones. Dad and mom divorced in 1966.

Dad married Delores Pellum Johnston and gained four more children, Victoria Delores (Wendell) Bell, Robert Earl Hill, and Mickie Jean (Larry) Johnson. Dad adopted her youngest daughter, Cherie Louella (Bill) Zavison, and raised her as his own. After Delores passed away in 1996 dad was really lonesome and he married a long time friend, Donna Brooks. Donna brought two more sons to dad's family, Kent and Todd (Paula) Blackner. Dad grew to love Todd as his own. After Donna passed away in June of 2013, Todd and Paula stayed with dad and cared for him until he fell and had to enter the Gateway Transitional Care Center in March 2015.

Our dad worked as a U.S. Railway Postal Clerk until his retirement. He also farmed most of his life. He worked for the L.D.S. Church Farm until he was about 84 years old. One of his pass times when we were children was to drive around the Tyhee flats and look at the crops. Dad was always a hard worker.

As per dad's wishes he is being cremated and there will be no services. We want to Thank Todd for all his help with our dad. He has shown dad exceptional love. We also want to thank Gateway Transitional Care for their kindness and wonderful care to dad. We couldn't have asked for better care!!

Dad was proceeded in death by his parents, all three of his wives, his sister Ethel, his brothers, Jake, Alfred, and Dennis, his nephew and one step son. He is survived by his children, one brother, Dale and his wife Barbara, his sister-in-law, Judy Hess, 17 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren.
