Rock Musician. A drummer, he will be best remembered for his work with the ensemble "Lynyrd Skynyrd". Burns was attending Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida, when he co-founded the group "The Noble Five" followed by "One Percent", before deciding on "Lynyrd Skynyrd". He was an important part of the group during their early years and contributed musically to their first two albums "Pronounced Leh-nerd 'Skin-'nerd" (1973, which contained "Free Bird") and "Second Helping" (1974, which contained "Sweet Home Alabama"). Burns departed due to the demanding touring schedule and was replaced by Artimus Pyle. He united briefly with a later "Lynyrd Skynyrd" lineup and was on hand when the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. He died in an automobile accident.
