Born August 26, 1953 at Davis Hospital in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, she was a hairdresser, owning and operating Sassy Scissors in Watson Chapel. A graduate of Pine Bluff High School, she attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where she completed a general tax course.
