Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2002, at Charter Funerals, 77 N.E. 72nd St., Gladstone, MO; burial in Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. "Chief" served with the 35th Division during World War II. He received five battle stars for service in the European Theater of Operations. He was a life member of Painter's Local Union 9 and a life member of Conboy-Nichols American Legion Post 340 in Sugar Creek. "Chief" leaves his wife of 55 years, Willie Lee Hayes, of the home; a sister-in-law, Lorene Kyle of Houston, TX; and a nephew, Ronald Kyle and wife Sherry, also of Houston.
