Born on December 14, 1906, in Stellaville, Jefferson County, she was the second of five children. She grew up in several communities around Jefferson County before leaving home in 1920 to attend the Georgia State College for Women. She graduated from G.S.C.W. in 1924 with an education degree.
After college, she taught school for one year in the state of Florida before coming to Danielsville as a grammar teacher. In 1935, she married Robert T. Eberhardt Jr., of Comer, and moved to Comer. Their only son, Bob Eberhardt, was born to her the following year. She and her husband, Robert, lived a grand 57 years together until his death in 1992.
For several years, she served as a middle school grammar teacher at the Comer Elementary School, where she touched the lives of many students who still speak fondly of their time with her. She is especially remembered for her soft, yet dignified manner.
During her lifetime, Mrs. Eberhardt was dedicated to and loved her family dearly. She lived by the motto of “God and family first.” She was one of the Lord’s special servants and served countless organizations, including memberships at and with the First Baptist Church of Comer, the Liza Graham Sunday School Class, the Comer Women’s Club, and the Garden Club of Athens.
Survivors include a son, Bob Eberhardt, Marietta; grandchildren, Eric Eberhardt, Watkinsville, and Mark Eberhardt, Winder; granddaughter-in-law, Deena Eberhardt, Watkinsville (spouse of Eric); great-grandchildren, Madison and Meaghan Elizabeth Eberdardt (daughers of Eric); sister-in-law, Dorothy Denny Barrow, Wrens; nieces, Ann English, Panama City, Fla., and Mary Carter Detts, Augusta; nephews, Denny Barrow, Louisville, and Tommy Barrow, Stapleton.
