Larry D. Gill, 63, of Valentine, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at his home in Valentine.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 6, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines, Valentine, and Carpenter Memorial Chapel, North Platte, are in charge of arrangements.

Larry Dean Gill was born October 13, 1951, in Stapleton, the son of Harold and Hilda (Suckstorf) Gill. He graduated from Stapleton High School in 1970. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy serving from 1971 to 1975. He married Karen Lee Stoeger on August 12, 1991, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in North Platte, where he was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad as a pipe fitter and sheet metal worker. In 1996, they moved to Stapleton. He worked for the railroad until health issues caused him to retire in 2005. In 2011, they moved to Valentine to be near family. He attended the Berean Bible Church in Valentine and was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed playing golf and helped in building the golf course in Stapleton and was an avid Huskers football and Denver Broncos fan. Above all, he loved the time he spent with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Karen; one son, Charles Gill; three sisters, Lois Musgrave of McCook, Laura Stalnaker of Wichita, KS, and Mary (Steven) Claycomb of Lakewood, CO; two brothers, Lloyd (Gwen) Gill of Stapleton and Daniel (Susan) Gill of Los Angeles, CA; and one sister-in-law, Trudy Gill of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lila Little, two brothers, Donald Gill and Carl Gill and two brothers-in-law, Floyd Musgrave and Courtland Stalnaker.
