Thomas Franklin Beard, 88, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2015; born on May 16, 1926 in Memphis, Tennessee. Tom was married to Bettye Compton Beard for 67 years and together they enjoyed being Memphis State Tiger fans for over 50 years. He was a long time member of Highland Heights United Methodist Church, a Mason, and a member of the IBEW for 65 years, as an electrician. He was an avid golfer which was proven by his three hole-in-ones. He is survived by his wife Bettye; one sister, Joan Uth of Bryant, AR; 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 7 grand-nieces and 4 grand-nephews. The family will receive friends Friday April 3, 2015 from 12-2 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel, with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh LaGrange, Memphis.
