"Died, at her home in the Shaffer neighborhood, south of Forest City, Friday, March 9, 1900, Mrs. Adam Shaffer, aged 39 years, 2 months and 22 days.
Her maiden name was Emma Alice Stallard and she was a sister of D.C. Stallard, well known in this community. The funeral was conducted from the family residence, Sunday, March 11, by Elder E.T. Conser, of the Evangelical Church, of Hiawatha, Kansas, of which she was a member, and the remains were laid to rest in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
She leaves a husband and seven children, the smallest a babe of only a few days, and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her departure to the other world."
