MICHIGAN CITY-Leon C. "Leap" Thompson, 74, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Franciscan St. Anthony Hospital, Michigan City, IN.

Leon was born March 28, 1941 in Wanatah, IN to Ivan and Doris (Watts) Thompson and lived in the area all of his life. He was a former farmer with Gumz Farms.

Survivors include two brothers, Clarence Thompson of Ohio and Loyd Allen Thompson of Kentucky; two sisters, Shirley Kirby of South Carolina and Esther Webb of Virginia; three special nieces and nephew, Verna Raymond and Brittnay Eckert, both of Michigan City and Ron Byrd Jr. of LaPorte; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Butch, Ivan Jr., Howard, and Charles; sisters, Mary Chris, Martha Conrick, Ila Clark, Doris Derrington, and Virginia Werner.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. (Central Time) in Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hanna Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the service.
