Rosetta (Rosa) was born to Charles Warren (Massachusetts) and Mary Jane Menchew (Orange, TX). Her father was a Private in the Massachusetts 3rd Regiment, Co M, Heavy Artillery. Her mother was the daughter of Thomas Menchew. Her siblings were: Leola, Mary Frances, Maggie, Edward, Wesley and James.
Allen and Rosa had 11 children: Mary Ellen, LeeOla, Ethel Ealie, Elizabeth, Lucretia (Lucy), William Elbert, Sammie E., Beulah Mae, Frank Ausbon, and Rosa Belle.
Rosa was much loved by her children as well as friends and neighbors. She was an avid reader and gardener. She loved to travel. We joked with her that we were sure she would go anywhere if we could strap her rocking chair to the wings of an airplane. Clearly, passenger travel wasn't readily available then. She lived with her daughter, Maggie Elvina, until her death.
