Jack Dempsey Wiggins- age 83 of Liberty passed away Saturday March 14, 2015 at his home. Dempsey was born in Liberty, January 16, 1932 the son of the late Ex Wiggins and Dean Parker Wiggins McMillen. Dempsey enjoyed gardening, wood working, and spending time with his family. At the age of seventeen A Korean war veteran, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served four years aboard the USS Boyer. Dempsey was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ. He was also a freemason and received the position special duty of the Grand Lodge of the State of Texas. He retired from Gulf State Utilities after thirty-seven years of service as a utility foreman. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his step father Lincoln McMillen, grandson Wade Wiggins, brother John Wiggins, and two step-brothers; Floyd McMillen and John Robert McMillen. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty-seven years Glenda Gale Reid Wiggins of Liberty, sons; Michael Wiggins and wife Tanya of Dallas, Jack Wiggins and wife Dana of Tyler, Mark Wiggins and wife Patricia of Huffman, daughter Leah Smith and husband Jim of Liberty, sisters; Barbara Belcher and Sonja Blanchard both of Liberty, brothers; George McMillen and wife Elouise of Colmesnell and Lewis McMillen of Raywood. In addition he leaves his grandchildren; Amanda Smith husband Jason, Jordan Lopez husband Donnie, Sean Smith wife Jessie, Joel Wiggins wife Melinda, Allison Smith, Jarrod Wiggins wife Stephanie, Savannah Wiggins, Caitlin Smith, and Madison Wiggins. He also leaves his ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation will be held Monday March 16, 2015 from 5-8PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral service will be held 2PM Tuesday March 17, 2015 at Liberty Church of Christ with burial to follow in Cooke Memorial Cemetery.
