California. Funeral services were
held Monday at the United
Methodist Church in Hawarden
with the Rev. W.M. Bloodworth
officiating. Graveside military
rites were conducted by the
Bergstrom-Bodeen Post no. 128,
American Legion of Hudson.
Burial was at the Grace Hill
Cemetery.
Harley Lionel Marshall was
born October 10,1896 to Josie and
Charles Marshall in Union
County, South Dakota. He served
his country during World War I in
the U.S. Army. On February 7,
1918 he was united in marriage
with Lola I. Frank at Sioux City,
Iowa. Following their marriage,
Harley and Lola lived on a farm
southwest of Hudson. In 1962
Harley retired from farming but
they continued to make their
home on the farm until August of
1972 when they moved to Hudson
to reside.
Harley was a member of the
United Methodist Church in
Hawarden and a Charter member
of the American Legion,
Bergstrom-Bodeen Post no. 128 of
Hudson. He was preceded in
death by his parents, one
daughter, Arloene, and three
brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Lola,
of Hudson; two daughters,
Marilyn (Mrs. Lee Gulberg) of
Kansas City, Missouri and
Beverley (Mrs. Stanley Harris) of
Lakewood, California; 5 grandchildren;
13 great grandchildren
and two sisters, Alberta (Mrs. Ed
Schmidt) of Rock Valley, Iowa
and Maxine (Mrs. Clarence
Nygard) of Hudson, S. Dak.
