NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Sallie Elizabeth (Billips) Sluss, 88, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 29, 2015 in Newport News, VA where she had resided for the past 2 1/2 years. She was a lifelong homemaker, loving wife and mother, and devoted Christian and is now in the company of her Lord and Savior.
Born October 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Luther Billips, Sr. And Zenobia Brooks Billips. She grew up in Mudfork but lived most of her life in Abbs Valley. She was a charter member of the Mudfork Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Albert Clayton Sluss; six brothers, Clarence, Marlen, Ernest, Vernon "Bunny", Carl and Luther Jr. Billips; two sisters, Gertrude and Nannie Lou Billips; two children, a son Robert Glenn Sluss and a daughter Theresa Sharon Davis.
Survivors include, a sister Bernice Griffith and husband John M of Bluefield, VA; two sons, Randall Clayton Sluss and wife Billie of Mudfork, VA and Albert Dale Sluss and wife Debbie of Newport News, VA. Although she couldn't communicate it the last couple years, she dearly loved her grandchildren Chris, Robbie, Michael, David and Aaron and two great-grandchildren, Karson and Cecelia.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA with Minister Brian Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 pm prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
