Funeral services with military honors for Chief Warrant Officer 4 Vernon C. Merrell will be at noon Friday at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Mr. Merrell died March 28, 2015, in Copperas Cove. He was born July 20, 1930, in Concord, Ky.

Mr. Merrell proudly served in the U.S. Army for 30 years, doing two tours in Vietnam and two in Korea. An outstanding officer, he earned two Bronze Stars and numerous commendation medals.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Teresa Tomiko Merrell.

Survivors include his sister, Ruth Regan of Martin, Tenn.; children, Veronica White (Shelly), Vernon T. Merrell (Luke), Carroll L. Merrell (Michelle, Brian), Michael Merrell (Amy, Phalen) and Audrey (Merrell) and Allan Stansbury (Kristen, Ashley); and great-grandchildren, Kha’i’ Lynn and Jaxon.
