Nioma M. Stephan, 74, of Sidney passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, OH.

She was born on August 24, 1940, in Delphos, Ohio, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Edna (Ultrup) Kortokrax.

On January 24, 2000, she married Robert Stephan, who survives along her children, Deborah (Tim) Blair, Sandra McRoberts, Jeff (Jane) Deitering, Annette (Dave) Kauffman, Jack (Karen) Deitering, Bobbie Stephan, Brenda Stephan and Janie (Chad) Willis; eight grandchildren, Alisha Deitering (fiancé, Andrew MacMillan), Brittany (Jason) Rethman, Ashley Ambos, Caleb Kauffman, Taylor Kauffman, Meghan (Brent) Becker, Jordan (Jake) Mills and Alex Stephan; siblings, Bob and Arlene Kortokrax, Carl and Carol Kortokrax and Janet and Tim Michel.

Two brothers and one granddaughter preceded her in death.

Mrs. Stephan retired from Everyday Technologies, where she was a secretary. She volunteered her time at the election booth for many years and was a member of several writers clubs. She taught religion for many years at Immaculate Conception Church in Botkins and Sacred Heart Church in McCartyville,OH. Nioma attended Sacred Heart Church in McCartyville. She was an Ohio Historian on the Erie Canal and was an author of two books, Low Bridge and Cameo Effect.

Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, crafts, enjoying her family, going to garage sales and auctions and getting together with friends. Nioma will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with Deacon Paul Luthman officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. There will be no calling hours prior to the service.
