Hattie died giving birth to her fourth child. Baby Myrtle is buried with her. After her death Alfred moved back to Clay county Tenn with his three young children, Annie Belle, Sula and James Hollis. He then married Hattie's niece Ova Patterson. Hattie's father-in-law Thomas Dennis is buried near her. Both Annie Belle and Hollis moved back to Farmers Branch as adults.
