Julian Russell Byrd passed away Monday, March 30 2015.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 3:00PM at Greenwood Baptist Church, 3400 Gray Highway with Reverend Joe Ferguson and Reverend Sam Scarbrough officiating. Burial will follow in Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends starting at 1:30pm Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Greenwood Baptist Church, 3400 Gray Highway, Gray Georgia 31032 or Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210.
Mr. Byrd was born in Reynolds, GA to the late John and Myrtle Byrd and moved to Macon in 1940. He was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School class. Mr. Byrd worked for Maxwell Brothers and later Allstate Bonding Co. where he became partner and retired after 40 years. Mr. Byrd was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his brother, A.D Byrd and sisters, Pauline Chancellor and Sarah Bowers.
Survivors include: his wife of 68 years, Jewell Byrd; daughters, Debbie Long and Cheryl (Dwight) Lee; grandchildren, Wendi (Tim) Lowrimore and Julie Melvin; step grandson, Patrick (Marina) Lee; great grandchildren, Olivia, Annaleigh and Nikolas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Coliseum ICU and the staff at Pine Pointe Hospice, especially Marie James and Faye Tripp. The family would also like to thank Terri Wise and Robert Howard.
Hart’s Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
