Kaysville – Carol Jean Gardiner, 80, passed away unexpectedly on March 29, 2015.

She was born in Ogden on February 1, 1935, to Everett and Sarah Goodell, the third of six children.

Carol grew up in both Ogden and Willard, Utah, where she graduated from Box Elder High School.

On October 24, 1957, she married Larry Gardiner of Ogden, Utah, in the Logan Utah Temple. In 1959, they moved to Kaysville where they raised their three children and proceeded to live ever since. The greatest work she ever did was being a devoted wife and a nurturing mother, as she cared for three generations of children and grandchildren and taught them to be honest, fair and hard working. Her favorite thing was her family; and they always knew how much she loved each one of them. She was continuously concerned for each of their well being, and would check in frequently to ensure they were taken care of, safe and well. She always looked forward to phone calls and visits from her children and grandchildren, which would light up her days. Her family loved visiting her as well, as they looked forward to sharing stories that would make her laugh, oftentimes to the point that she would be in tears. Little did she know how much her presence lit up each of their days.

In her youth, she loved playing softball and was a catcher for the Utah Shamrocks for a short time. After graduating high school, she worked at Woolworth's and J.C. Penny's, followed by 25 years of service at Bowman's Market in Kaysville. Together with Larry, Carol enjoyed camping and participated in a number of travel trailer clubs. The two of them even organized and helped stage an international trailer rally in Logan, Utah in 1975. She was an excellent cook; her cinnamon rolls were the best! She enjoyed watching game shows and the Utah Jazz- as long as they were doing well.

Carol was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Larry had served together in the Bountiful Utah Temple, as well as on a physical facilities mission in the Kaysville area.

She is survived by her children, Vaughn (Lori) Gardiner of Layton, Utah; Cheryl (Del) Satterthwaite of Fruit Heights, Utah; and Chris (Karen) Gardiner of West Haven, Utah; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Karen Rasmussen (Lynn) of Bountiful, Utah; and Janice Summers of California, and one brother, Jay (Claudia) Goodell of Farr West, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry, as well as a sister Beverly Schroeder, and a brother, George Goodell.

Interment will be held at the Kaysville City Cemetery.
