Mrs. Mary Dean McMichael Potts, daughter of Zanney and Essie Flowers McMichael was born January 13, 1927, in Attala County, MS.

She was married to the late Nelson Avery, Sr. This union was blessed with four children, Jewell Dean, Nelson Omer, Dorothy Mae, and Howard Ray.

Mary was intelligent, and fun to chat with or talk via silence or voice. She lived, she loved and she returned to Mother Earth.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Howard; two sisters, Hazel and Helen, two brothers, Dowell and Harvey.

She departed this life on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Durant Long Term Care Center, Durant, MS.

Her survivors include two daughters, Jewell Dean, and Dorothy Mae; one son, Nelson Omer; and loving and beautiful sisters, Grace, Lovie, June, Barbara Jean, Lisa Ruth, Kat Francis, Ida, Catherine, and Linda. Her handsome and loving brothers, Bill, and ED.

Mrs. Mary D. Potts, 87, of Kosciusko, MS, passed away in Holmes County on Saturday, November 1, 2014. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Center Church of God in Kosciusko. Burial will be in Center Church of God Cemetery in Kosciusko. Winters Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
