SALEM, Va. — Henry Clyde Steele, 93, of Salem, VA, Departed this life on Saturday, March 28, 2015.

He was the Son of General Lafayette and Nora Steele of Russell County, Va. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, and Wife, Geneva H. Steele; Son in law, Jerry G. Templeton.


Geneva and Henry were married August 31st, 1942. They have one Daughter, Carol S. Templeton of Salem, VA; Three Grandsons, Richard of Salem, VA, Mark and Wife Arlene of Jensen Beach, FL, and Ryan of Richmond, VA.

Henry worked for the Norfolk and Western Railroad for 41 1/2 years as an Operator, Train Dispatcher and Supervisor in the Transportation Office. He retired on May 31st, 1983.

He was a great worker in the Church, he served as an Elder for 25 years, sang in the choir about 30 years.

Henry was from a large family of eight girls and two boys, of which he was the youngest, all of whom precede him in death.

He leaves behind many wonderful friends.

He lived his last eleven years in the care of his daughter.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Lotz Salem Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in West Virginia.
