The dawn of life for John (Duck) Wooden begin March 13, 1949 in Barton, Alabama to the late Robert James (Wheeler) Wooden and Ruthie Mae Faint Wooden. John accepted Christ at an early age. He joined Brown Temple Methodist on 18th Street. He later joined Everdale M.B. Church in Sheffield.
John attended Southeast and Sterling High School. He worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken a number of years and later for the City of Florence where he retired after 36 years of service.
John departed this earthly life on March 24, 2015, to be with the Lord.
John was preceded in death by daughter- Wanda Kay Wooden; brother- Clifford Wooden, Sister- Johnella Robinson and grandson- Carter Wooden.
He Leaves to cherish is memories:
Wife- Reverend Ada B. Holland Wooden (Sissy). Children: John LaShawn Wooden of Akron, Ohio; LeRoy S. Carroll, Micheal Whitson, John Tyrone Holland of Sheffield, Alabama and John Henry Wooden, Jr., of Florence, Alabama. Daughters: Theresa Wooden, Latosha Green of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Waunita Wooden of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; Shelia Hampton, Felchia (James) Reeder, Felita (Joey) Wooden and Lyrissa (Rodreggus) Puryear all of Florence, Alabama. One Brother- Robert Wooden of Ohio. One Sister- Mattie Byrd of Florence, Alabama. Mother-in-law: Marie S. Holland. Four Brothers-in-law: Rickey (Bridgette) Holland, Virgil (Denise) Holland of Sheffield Alabama. Clerence Birdson, Paul R. (Kelly) Holland of Decatur, Alabama. Twenty- nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Special cousins; Lorraine Thompson, Fannie Laura Rooks, Patrice Shaw, Steve Thompson. Special Friends: Larry Nunery, Tim Clark and Lataurs Decatur.
