Daughter of Jacob and Eliza McFetridge Vaughn, she was married, retired, lived at 134 Grant St, Franklin, died there of pernicious anemia, per death certificate 93912, whose informant was S. A. Steele of Franklin. Buried Oct 8 1922.

Franklin News-Herald, Friday, Oct 6 1922:
Mrs. Emma R. Steele died at 6:25 o'clock this morning at the family residence, 134 Grant Street, She was born in 1847 near Sheakleyville, Mercer County.

For the past 27 years she had been a resident of Franklin. For about 57 years she was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

On April 22, 1872 she married S. E. Steele, who survives, with two brothers, George Vaughn and Hugh Vaughn, both of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Dane Vernon of Perry, OH, and Mrs. Chrissie Alexander of near Mercer; and a son, Frank E. Steele of Franklin.

The funeral will be at the residence at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
