MACKSBURG - A funeral for Charles Lester Stonehocker, 40, of Macksburg was held June 29, 187 at the United Methodist Church at Adel. Mr. Stonehocker died of cancer on June 26, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines. Burial was in the Panther Creek Cemetery near Adel.

Charles Stonehocker was born March 15, 1947, in Des Moines, the son of Lester and Lela Stonehocker. He graduated from high school in Brookfield, Mo., in 1966. He served in the United States Army in Germany, and was a member of the Army Reserve for 11 years.

He married Joyce Walkup on September 25, 1976, in Des Moines. They lived in DeSoto for seven years and later moved to Glidden, where he farmed with his father-in-law, Ed Walkup, for three years. He moved with his family to Macksburg in 1986, where he was employed by the Victor Edwards Trucking Co.

He was a member of Wesley Chapel of Macksburg.

Stonehocker was preceded in death by one sister, Rose.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; two children, Amy, 9, and Steven, 8; his parents, Lester and Lela Stonehocker of Winterset; four brothers; Gary of Redfield, Dave of Thayer, Danny of Afton and Leslie of Winterset; two sisters; Virginia Hawkins of Lorimor and Elvera Berry of Lorimor; and one grandmother, Alma Stonehocker of Winterset.
