Nicholas "Nick" Karras, age 62, of Oakwood passed away Friday, March 27, 2015. Born on January 16, 1953, Nick was a graduate of Oakwood High School class of 1971 and received his BS from The University of Cincinnati in 1975. A lifelong member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Dayton, Nick was also an inductee into the Oakwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013 as a member of the state qualifying 1971 Boys Basketball Team. Nick was a longtime real estate appraiser for US Bank Home Mortgage, working in Montgomery, Clark, Miami and Greene counties before transitioning to Red Sky Risk Services, LLC, a division of US Bank.

Nick was preceded in death by his father Frank, his mother Bessie, his sister Christine, his brother George and his nephew James. He is survived by his daughter Elli Anne, as well as many beloved relatives and cherished friends.

Nick's father and mother were Greek immigrants who moved into the house at 323 Orchard Drive that Nick lived in until he passed away. They also owned the Eatmore restaurant in downtown Dayton and were instrumental in helping other Greeks immigrate to the Dayton area.

Nick was passionate about his heritage and his sports teams, especially the Cincinnati Reds. He was a gregarious and social man who enjoyed playing tennis with friends, grilling, gardening, and traveling with his daughter Elli Anne. Nick was also a lifelong dog lover and a strong supporter of Oakwood High School Athletics. His infectious laughter and warm sense of humor will be truly missed by those that knew him.

Family will greet friends from 4:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Trisagion Prayers being held at 4:30pm. A funeral will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, OH 45405. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Dayton, OH.
