Der Lecha Patriot, Allentown, Pa. 4-19-1854 (from German): Died: On April 7 in Trumbull County, Ohio, Anna, wife of Mr. Jacob Schmeyer, nee Biery, and formerly of Lehigh County, in her 40th year. She leaves a husband bowed low and 9 children to mourn her early demise. According to a letter from there, her death was caused by rat poison, which sickened the whole family, and Mr. Schmeyer and a daughter remain dangerously bedridden. How the family came to ingest the poinson is not reported in the letter.
