"LaVern E. "Boomer" Bohm, age 85, of 2729 35th Street, Two Rivers, died Tuesday afternoon, June 20, 2006, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

"He was born on April 10, 1921, in Angelica, Shawano County, a son of the late Edward and Ida Ollman Bohm. He attended school in Green Valley. On May 24, 1945, he married the former Joyce Meneau, in Two Rivers. LaVern served in the U.S. Army in Germany from Aug. 25, 1945 until Aug. 4, 1946. He was a member of VFW Post 1248, Two Rivers. He was employed at the Metal Ware Co. as a press operator for many years. He played softball for the Two Rivers Cubs and was the manager of the Labor Hall Team. He also enjoyed fishing and bowling.

"Survivors include his wife: Joyce Bohm; a son and daughter-in-law: Wayne and Betty Bohm; two daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Eugene "Gene" Stuebs and JoAnne and Richard Kouba, all of Two Rivers; six grandchildren: Wendy Navani and fiance Brian Muehlbauer, David (Tanya) Stuebs, Tina Bohm and special friend, Lee Holsen, Cindy Bohm and fiance Kenneth LaGrew, Stacy Kouba and special friend, Casey Abing, and Kevin Kouba; five great-grandchildren: Nikhita Navani, Priyanka Navani, Taran Stuebs, Brady Stuebs and Alicia Hansen. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Arthur and Elmer Bohm; and three sisters: Etta Dufano, Irene Schnese and Laura Gates.

"God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him, and whispered, "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched him fade away; although we loved him dearly we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands came to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best."
