Tal married Mary in 1884 and they lived on the Housewright family farm west of Steelville. Tal and Mary "Aunt Love" were outstanding citizens of the Hiland Community. Tal was an avid reader and loved to sing. He was a loving father and gave his children the very best he could. Mary loved their children and was a good cook. They were married 52 years and attended the Methodist Chapel. Both are buried at the Barnicle Chapel Cemetery.
