Born in Mercer County, he was the son of John and Mary E. Reed Adkinson. He was a member of the Cornishville Christian Church and was a retired tool and die maker for the V.R. Wesson Company.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Hawkins Adkinson; a daughter, Mrs. Janice (Donald) Spreitzer of Lexington; two sons, Robert E. Adkinson of Mercer County, and Donald M. Adkinson of Fort Valley, Georgia; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Adkinson were held at 10 A.M. Saturday at the Milward Mortuary-Southland in Lexington. The Reverend Richard Carpenter officiated and burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens in Jessamine County.
Pallbearers for the funeral were David C. Kessling, Robert B. Kessling, Michael R. Adkinson, Timothy K. Adkinson, Thomas L. Adkinson, Glenn A. Adkinson and Robert W. Adkinson.
