FLORENCE

Mrs. Norma Jean Bowles, 90, of Florence, passed away June 9, 2017 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of Woodmont Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Dr. Barry Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bowles was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dee Bowles; infant son, Dennis Ray Bowles; parents, Odis Lee and Nannie Burns Quillen; brother, Thomas Quillen; and sister, Jan Quillen.
She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Carol Hargett and Sandra Lair; brothers, Charles, Edmond, Larry, Sam and Jim Quillen; sisters, Jewel Quillen Sharp, Virginia Quillen Blackburn, Nancy Quillen Gill and Rejetta Quillen Balentine; and grandchildren, Christopher Lee Yerbey and Joshua Lee Hargett.
Mrs. Bowles retired after 30 years at Reynolds Metals and enjoyed painting, writing, and playing golf. She did genealogy research and authored a book on the Joseph Holley Burns family, with the help of her siblings.
Special thanks to the staff of Station 4 at Mitchell Hollingsworth, North Alabama Hospice, Paula Darling and Shirley Holt.
Active pallbearers will be Doug Hargett, Vance Persall, Jeff Quillen, Joel Quillen, James Bowles and Sam Quillen. George Lair and Ray Hudson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
