Walter was left a widower with a 7 year old daughter when his wife Florence was found near City Park with a rope around her neck of an apparent suicide.
And second, on September 5, 1936 in Manhattan, New York to Grace Mary Ryan, daughter of Terence A. Ryan and his wife MarieAnne Ledwith. Walter and Grace were married until his death at the age of 66 due to hemopericardium according to his Yale University Records. He is interred with his parents.
