The Terre Haute Tribune (January 2, 1929) reported "Abraham Lewis Baxter, 80 years old, died at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the home of his son, Albert L. Baxter, 2335 Garfield avenue. Besides Mr. Baxter, he is survived by two other sons, Charles H. of San Antonio, Tex., and Oliver H. of Seattle, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth McLemore of Caldwell, N.J., and Mrs. Alice Stewart, of Chrisman, Ill., four brothers, three sisters, 17 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. The body was removed to Thomas undertaking parlor."

The Springs Valley Herald (January 10, 1929) reported "Abraham L. Baxter, 85 years of age, died January 2, at Terre Haute, Ind. Death was caused by influenza and pneumonia. The body was shipped here Thursday night and funeral services were held Friday morning at the First Christian Church here. Mr. Baxter was a former resident of this city, and is survived by several relatives in this community."
