Our Grand Daddy of Maytag 12/29/1927~2/12/2010 James "Marlo" Dodge was born on December 29, 1927 to Edward and Maude Dodge in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended school at South High and was a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was well known in the community as the Owner/Operator of Marlo's Appliance from 1963 to 2007. Marlo loved his work and serving his family, friends and neighbors. He started working at the age of 12 and did not retire until he was 80-years-old. Marlo was married to Connie Leonard from 1949 to 1953 and to Gertrude "Trudy" Jongjan from 1954 to 1985. For the past 25 years Marlo has shared his life and amplified his joy with his Loving Companion, Vickie Guymon. Marlo is survived by his sister Melba Lindley; His children Linda, James, and Karen; Friend and Companion Vickie Guymon and her children Teresa, Tim, Tracy, John, Brandon, and Jennifer. He also leaves behind 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Being a lover of life and the beauty it holds, Marlo enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird-watching, bee-keeping, long conversations and a good joke. He was more at home in nature than indoors and his love for the Lord was immense. Marlo touched the lives of all who knew him. We love him deeply and the memories he has given us will be fondly remembered and never forgotten. Viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe (4760 S. State) on Mon. Feb. 15th from 6-8 p.m. and Tue. Feb. 16th from 11-11:30 a.m. Graveside services at Elysian Burial Gardens (1075 E. 4580S.) on Tue. Feb.16th at 12p.m. The family would like to thank Harmony Home Health & Hospice for the wonderful care, service, and support provided. Special thanks to Lillianna, Maria, Laura, and Jeff.
