Stephen P. Sears, age 60, of Columbia, formerly of St. Petersburg, FL, died peacefully, Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Arlene (Claus) Sears with whom he resided and the late William E. Sears, Jr. Steve was the husband of Nizet (Villareal) Sears. He was the head of security for Goodwill Industries in St. Petersburg, FL and also was a substitute teacher for the St. Petersburg, FL School District. Steve served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Army stationed in Germany, he was a member of the Stuttgart Rugby Team for 4 years. He was baptized in the Christian Faith. Steve was a graduate of Hempfield High School, Eastern Illinois University, and received his Master's Degree from Millersville University. He was a Democrat Party volunteer and a volunteer at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL. Steve loved to go fishing, especially with his best friend John Delgado.
