Maria Barbara Seppach was born December 1, 1690, and married on August 28, 1711 to Thomas Wayland (Wieland in Germany) in the Church pictured on the right (Click on photo to read caption and credits). Maria was the daughter of Abraham Seppach. Maria and husband, Thomas, came to America in 1719, with children Catherine and Hans Jacob. After arrival, Adam and John were born. There may be other children.

When they patented land in the new world, they were later to lose all or most of it in court, as it was already patented to John Broyles.

Maria was paid out of the Church fund 30 shillings for use of the poor. Church's did not pay money directly to the poor; Mary was the intermediary who performed services at some trouble and expense to herself, being reimbursed by the church.
