Ray Edwards, 79, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2015, in Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 3 pm Monday, March 30 at the First Baptist Church in Durant. Visitation will be prior to the service at 1 pm also at the church. Burial will be in the West City Cemetery in West, MS.

Ray Edwards was born on March 21, 1936 in Attala County. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Estell Edwards; siblings, Michael (Bud) Edwards and Mary Lee Collins, and a grandson Will Luckett.

He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Ann Bishop Edwards; four daughters, La'Raye Luckett (Homer), Angela Jolly (William), Lana Gillon (Hugh), and Lisa Edwards; 4 granddaughters, Corley Luckett Mullins, (Matthew), Ashley Jolly, Haley Jolly and Katie Gillon; one grandson, Hunter Gillon; one great granddaughter, Lucy Mullins; and loving pet, Socks.

He was retired from the ICG Railroad and Mississippi National Guard. He was a member of Flowood Baptist Church, the Mississippi Baptist Chaplains' Association, the American Legion and The Forty & Eight. He was an ordained Chaplain, a former Hospice Chaplain, and past President of Mississippi Baptist Chaplains' Association.
