Services were held for Leo Earl Bruns at the First Congregational Church in Peterson, la., on Saturday, November 6, 1982, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. David Hawk and the Rev. Allen Dumke officiating.
Casket bearers were Bill Fields, Everett Graphenthin, Roy Wetherall, Ray Wetherall, Richard Kracht, and Erwin Mueller. The committal service was held at Liberty Township Cemetery at Calumet, IA. The Baumgarten Funeral Home at Peterson, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.
Leo Earl Bruns, the son of Charles and Lena Stroman Bruns, was born March 18, 1923, in O'Brien County, near Granville, Iowa. He was engaged in farming all of his life, in the Peterson area, and passed away suddenly at his farm home on November 3, 1982. He reached the age of 59 years, 7 months, and 15 days.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Peterson and had been both an Usher and a Deacon on the church board.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Langholz on March 10, 1948 at Sutherland, Iowa They became the parents of two children, Leatrice, and Leslie
His father, Charles Bruns, Sr. preceded him in death, as did a brother-in-law, Vernell Hoermann.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruth Ann, his children and their spouses: Mr. and Mrs. Duane (Leatrice) Kirchner of Dundee, Mn. and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Bruns of, Aurelia, his mother, Mrs. Lena Bruns of Paullina, two grandchildren; Melissa Bruns and Jason Kirchner, and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Burnell Koehlmoos (Clara) of Paullina, Ralph of Aurelia, Mrs. Darrell Brotherton (Betty Lou) of Hurley, South Dakota, Charles Jr.; of Primghar, Richard and Dennis, both of Paullina. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and his many friends.
